I am a hybrid, straddling a line between classic photographer and digital artist, representational and abstract.
My classic work is a mix of fine art and documentary travel photography and portraiture. I have travelled extensively and seek out moments in time to express my interpretation of the world around me. Whether formal or candid portraits, colour or black and white images, I want to preserve those precious gems of life experiences: curious about people and their stories, startled by overlooked details.
My approach is intuitive. Public places are a stage which I can use to document the beauty of their environs and the miniature dramas that unfold in real-time. Despite the death and illness that have occurred in my life, I remain eternally lighthearted in my outlook so my work oscillates between the dramatic and the playful.
My artistic work is more dynamic and explores fragments of life through a kaleidoscope to provide a place of self-expression. I use in-camera and editing techniques to slow time, blend colours and shift form, producing energetic fantasies of pattern and texture, sometimes real sometimes imagined.
I have been awarded Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society and have had my work exhibited in over 30 countries.
